Keller Central earns draw at Southlake

Keller Central came in big underdogs as they opened district boys soccer play at powers Southlake Tuesday night.  They could not have gotten off to a worse start though as Southlake came out flying.

It only took a few minutes and the home side was ahead as a perfect cross from Tommy Price found Jack Parrish on the backpost who headed home the opener.  The game was taking on the look of a potential blowout as Central was not getting down the pitch at all.

On their first attack of the game Central earned a corner kick and before you knew it the game was tied when Kameron Maney finished the set piece.  The game completely changed from there as Southlake lost their momentum and the game evened for the rest of the first half.

Southlake regrouped at the break though and started the second half just as the first.  In the 52nd minute they were rewarded as Jack Parrish got down the right side.  His low cross found an unmarked Walker Beasley all alone for the easy finish.  The Dragon were back on top 2-1.

Keller Central would not go quietly though and in the 57th minute they earned a freekick.  Once again it was Kameron Maney who headed home from close range to even the game once again.  It was a mirror image of the first half.  The Southlake energy dropped and the match settled for a bit.

As the end approached, the game opened up.  Southlake was intent on finding the winning goal and began pushing players forward.  Chances came at both ends.  The Dragons looked to have scored in the 75th minute only to see the goal called offside.  Central should have scored just a minute later as the left back found himself all alone in front.  He fired well over the net from 10 yards out as his teammates groaned.

A confrontation in front of the Southlake bench saw the Keller left back see a red card and the visitors were forced to finish the final minutes with 10 men.  Southlake pushed hard from there, but were unable to find the winner as the game ended 2-2.  A good road result for Keller Central.
