Upsets throw District 4-5A into chaos

Nobody could have seen what happened Friday night coming.  A pair of upsets at the top of District 4-5A have thrown the title race into total chaos as the second half of district play kicks off.  Both Southlake and Keller went down to surprising losses.

The big upset of the night belonged to Northwest as they shocked Keller 1-0.  It was only Northwest's second district win of the year.  It won't nearly be enough to get Northwest near a playoff spot, but it severely dented Keller's hopes of a district title.  The loss leaves Keller at 5-2-1 in district play.

The other upset of the night belonged to Keller Central who took advantage of a beaten up Southlake squad which suffered two broken bones the previous week.  A goal from Darin Hubert stoof up as Central shutout the offensively challenged Dragon team.  The result leaves Keller Central on top of the district at 6-0-2.  Southlake sits just behind at 6-1-1.

The beneficiary of the chaos was Richland who had no trouble dispatching Keller Fossil Ridge Saturday morning 2-0.  The win moves Richland into a third place tie with Keller at 5-2-1.

Keller Central 6-0-2 for 20 points
Southlake  6-1-1 for 19 points
Keller       5-2-1 for 16 points
Richland   5-2-1 for 16 points
