It was an all Metroplex final Saturday night in Houston as Fort Worth Nolan faced off against rivals Bishop Lynch from Dallas.  A battle was expected and a battle was exactly what ensued.  It was a match definitely worthy of a state championship.

Nolan took a 1-0 lead into halftime.  Grant Muehlstein put Nolan ahead on the half hour mark as he he finished a ball from Barton Holdridge.  They were unable to hold on in the second half as Bishop Lynch equalized on 60 minutes as Ryan Plugge headed home.  The match would go to overtime at 1-1.

The game look destined for penalty kicks until a second yellow from Bishop Lynch's Sebastian Gajardo changed the game.  The Friars were forced to play a man down and Nolan punished them.  Only seconds into the second overtime period Nolan would claim the victory.  Barton Holdridge was once again the supplier as he set up Keagan Angevin to smash home from close range for the victory.

“This is the first time we’ve ever beat Lynch in the state title game,” Clementson said. “That’s saying something. All credit goes to our boys.”  It is Nolan's 10th state title since opening in 1961.
