The Trophy Club Nelson girls will be seeing Denton Guyer in their nightmares.  For the third time this year Guyer knocked off TC Nelson and this time it was for the regional title.

TC Nelson kept the match close in the opening half, fighting Denton Guyer to a scoreless tie at the break.  But Guyer would break the game open after the restart.  Brittany Crabtree scored two goals to lead the Wildcats to the Class 4A Region I title with a 3-0 victory at Memorial Stadium.

Wildcats (26-1) who converted set pieces as Hannah Alspach served up corner kicks for goals to Crabtree in the 43rd minute and Telia Young in the 73rd minute. In between, Crabtree scored her second of the match and 37th of the season when she hit a ball through the keeper in the 55th minute.

“I think they had momentum the first half and we came out and got our goal, that’s what we had to do,” Guyer coach Kenny Blevins said.

Nelson was a state finalist last year, but this time it’s Guyer, which won the district meetings 4-1 and 2-1, making its first trip to state.

“I thought we played them well,” Salyer said. “Our game plan was good, and we had chances in the beginning and were unlucky not to get one in the first half. “Then they got one, which unfortunately was on a set piece, and then the second one was not a worthy goal. It’s hard to be down two against them.”
