FC Dallas finishes four point week at home

It would have to be termed a successful week as FC Dallas finished two matches in four days with a draw and a win.  With the results FCD pushed their unbeaten run to nine matches.

Four points from the two matches is not a bad thing at all considering the team was playing without several important players.  On Wednesday the team was missing David Ferreira, George John, Jackson and Andrew Jacobson.  A solid Portland Timbers team was in town and forced Dallas to fight every minute of the match.

Despite several missed chances from FC Dallas, Portland jumped ahead against the run of play when Darlington Nagbe knocked home a nice cross from Anthony Wallace.  The home side would answer right back though as Kenny Cooper converted a penalty kick and the two sides played out the 1-1 draw.

FC Dallas turned right around and played again just a few days later.  Once again the lineup was shorthanded, but Jackson returned to the lineup from suspension and sparked the squad with a wonderful performance.  He opened the scoring early on as he fired home a pass from Eric Hassli.  DC United would even the score before halftime when veteran Dwayne De Rosario would hit a low freekick that eluded keeper Chris Seitz and found the right corner of the net.

The home side would find the deserved winner in the 77th minute on a set piece.  A wonderful corner kick from Michel whizzed through the six yard box finding Je-Vaughn Watson on the backpost where he chested home his first goal of the season.

The four points keep FC Dallas well ahead in the MLS Western Conference as they sit 6 points ahead of the second place Portland Timbers.  Real Salt Lake sit third followed by the surprising Colorado Rapids.
