A strong second half lifted FC Dallas to a 2-0 win in US Open Cup third round play Tuesday night in Florida.  The team visited the Fort Lauderdale Strikers looking for their first road win in US Open Cup play since 2007.  It was a nervy first half that raised questions if FC Dallas could end that streak.

The Strikers were dangerous and bossed the game the opening 45 minutes of play.  Walter Restreppo was giving the Dallas backline fits as he created a pair of golden opportunities.  The first forced a smart save from goalkeeper Chris Seitz while the second chance was denied by the crossbar.  Fort Lauderdale would end up ruing those missed chances as FC Dallas raised their game in the second 45.

Energized after the break, FCD came out on the front foot and within ten minutes they snatched the lead as Je-Vaughn Watson curled in a cross that found Fabian Castillo at the back post where he slipped a perfect pass square to Blas Perez who knocked into the net.  The visitors could sense the victory and Matt Hedges doubled the lead in the 66th as he headed home a Michel set piece.

Now FC Dallas awaits the winner of tonight's Houston Dynamo-FC Tucson match.  The 4th round US Open Cup game will be played in Frisco on June 12th.
