Wild rally as FC Dallas ties Sporting KC

After a first half that saw FC Dallas narrowly miss scoring several times, the home fans had to wait until the final minutes for FCD to score twice and earn a draw with Sporting KC. The last gasp rally helped FC Dallas keep their unbeaten record at home in tact.

FC Dallas attacked with fervor in the opening 45 minutes only to see them denied by the woodwork or goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen.  Both Kenny Cooper and Je-Vaughn Watson saw their headers bounce off the post as Dallas dominated the game.  But miss your chances and you usually get punished.  Aurelien Collin was pulled down after a Graham Zusi freekick earning a penalty kick.  Kei Kamara expertly put the spot kick home and Sporting KC had a lead against the run of play.

The visitors grabbed a second just minutes after the break and it looked like SKC would hand FCD their first home loss of the season.  Then CJ Sapong had a momentary lapse of judgement and was sent off.  With Dallas player Andrew Jaocbson on the ground from a foul, Sapong intentionally knocked the ball off his head in a disguised attempt to return the ball.  With the referee standing right there it was an obvious red card.  It gave FC Dallas the energy to mount the rally.

With only minutes to play a Ramon Nunez cross was headed home by Jacobson and FCD were on their way.  Just seconds later Zach Loyd earned a freekick deep in KC territory.  Kamara lost his mark and rookie Walker Zimmerman headed home the tying goal to the delight of the home crowd.
