FC Dallas slumps to draw with last place Chivas USA

Gag!  A monster holiday crowd had to sit through a poor performance from FC Dallas Thursday night in Frisco as FCD slumped to a scoreless draw against last place Chivas USA.  A Chivas squad that had exactly two draws and no wins in their last eleven matches.  Not a good result at all when you are fighting for a top spot in the Western Conference.  You can't drop points to the last place side.

If not for the play of keeper Raul Fernandez Dallas would likely have lost.  Fernandez notched seven saves on the night including a great save in the 94th minute to deny Chivas the win.

Dallas had their chances though.  Good ones too, but they missed the target.  A first half counter left ended with the ball on David Ferreira's foot 10 yards out with space.  He turned and fired well over the crossbar as the crowd groaned.  Michel also saw a freekick glance off the post and go wide.  The best chance of the second half came on a Jackson header from close range, but it too flashed just wide.

Bottom line, FCD extended their home unbeaten streak to 14, but they have lost points at home to lower sides of late.  They have slipped from the top spot in the standings and with tough road matches this month at the Galaxy and Montreal the fall could be extended.
