FC Dallas rallies late to end long winless streak

The long winless streak has finally ended.  Three months.  Eleven matches.  A furious second half rally allowed ten man FC Dallas to get back on the winning track as they zipped past Chivas USA 3-1.

Despite a solid start FC Dallas wasted chance after chance in the opening 25 minutes of play.  Inevitably they were punished for the poor finishing as Chivas jumped ahead on a goal from Bryan de La Fuente and took the lead into halftime.

FCD emerged from the break pressing hard for goals, but once again weren't able to break through. Things got dark in the 81st minute as an out of control Jackson was sent off for crashing into Chivas USA defender Carlos Bocanegra.  It was his second yellow and one that had been coming for minutes as he flew around the field.

Just when things look bleakest....

The sending off spurred FC Dallas and the visitors scored twice in the final ten minutes to steal the victory.  Both goals were real beauties too.  A great pass from Ramon Nunez freed David Ferreira who deftly chipped the ball over keeper Dan Kennedy and into the side netting just before a Chivas defender arrived to clear.

A brilliant Ramon Nunez goal sealed the deal.  He cut inside on his right foot and fired a perfect shot into the far side net making it 3-1.

“I think it just comes down to the character of the players and determination of the players. They were determined to come away with three points,” Hyndman told MLSsoccer.com. “A lot of teams would have sat back and said, ‘We’re down a man, let’s get a point on the road and we’ll feel good about it.’

Dallas now finds itself back in the playoff picture as they site tied for the last MLS Western Conference playoff spot.  Now the team needs to get on a winning streak and with San Jose arriving in town on the weekend the opportunity presents itself.
