The Sidekicks finally put away a team that had been sticking close to them the entire season.  The Tulsa Revolution had not beaten the Sidekicks in three previous meetings this season, but they have always put up a good fight.  Saturday night in Tulsa, the Sidekicks had their way winning 13-2.

Midfielder Nestor Hernandez posted five goals in the Dallas Sidekicks’ 13-2 road win over the Tulsa Revolution Saturday night. Despite both teams taking an equal 21 shots, Dallas goalkeeper Milo excelled and the Sidekicks’ offense shined, bringing the team’s season record to a solid 10-2.

The only action in the first quarter came from Sidekicks defender Sean Bellomy, who scored an early goal just 2:55 into play. Dallas goals came nonstop in the second quarter, the team going up 6-0 into halftime. Midfielder Nestor Hernandez scored two, firing in the upper corner of the net at 4:03 and then from an outside angle late in the quarter. Franck Mbemba capitalized on a rebound off of Tulsa goalkeeper Amos Lewis, and 21-year-old Mark Withers got two of his own from a set piece and a quick sprint up the boards.

Jamie Lovegrove got his 19th goal of the season just 3:51 into the second half, followed by Gabe Arredondo, Nick Stavrou and Nestor Hernandez with two to complete his fourth hat trick of the season. Tulsa began the fourth quarter with quick succession of goals in the first minute from Franck Tayou and Levi Coleman. The Revolution continued to step up their play for the remainder of the match, but it was the Sidekicks who had the last word, Lovegrove scoring his second of the match at 10:28 and Hernandez his fifth at 14:45 to bring the final score to 13-2 Sidekicks.

The Sidekicks return to the Allen Event Center on January 25 to play the Texas Strikers, and again on January 31 for a much anticipated contest against the Las Vegas Legends. The January 31 game will be the Sidekicks’ annual Faith & Fellowship Night with a concert by The Afters, a nationally-renowned Christian pop rock band.
