Dallas Sidekicks open with 3 losses

Three tight games and three tough losses have greeted the Dallas Sidekicks as they opened the 2015 MASL season.  The team opened the campaign at home in the Allen Event Center by facing off against the talented Missouri Comets.  The game was close throughout with Dallas actually leading 6-5 into the final period, but the talented Missouri side would pull it out in the end scoring the final three goals of the match to win 8-6.

The Las Vegas Legends came to Allen for the second game of the season. This one was definitely the toughest of the three losses to swallow as the Sidekicks lost a late lead before falling in overtime.  The game was all even at 1-1 after the opening half. It was a one goal game from there. Dallas led 4-3 heading to the final fifteen minutes of play where the home side held tight until the dying minutes.  Las Vegas threw on the sixth attacker in a last ditch effort to tie the match.  The team’s risk paid off, midfielder Cesar Cerda tying the match 4-4 at 11:54 and sending the game into overtime. Momentum swinging their way, Vegas’ Hiram Ruiz netted the game winning goal 1:41 into the extra time to win it for the Las Vegas Legends and bringing the Sidekicks to 0-2 to begin their season.

The third game of the season provided the Sidekicks with their first away test as they travelled to New York to face the Syracuse Silver Knights.  The long trip and tough opponent proved too much to overcome as Dallas fell 9-5 on the evening.  The Sidekicks tried to keep pace all evening, but Syracuse slowly pulled away. Cody Ellis scored twice on the night.

Next weekend the Sidekicks travel to Tacoma for two matches, taking on the Tacoma Stars Friday at 9:35 and Sunday 5:05. The team is then back at Allen Event Center for four straight games, firstly taking on the San Diego Sockers at 7:05 on Saturday, Dec 12.
