Trophy Club Byron Nelson send boys & girls to State

Both the boys and girls soccer teams from Trophy Club Byron Nelson are heading to Georgetown for the UIL 4A State soccer championship.  They'll look for the very rare double next weekend.

The boys made the short trip north for the regional tournament in Wichita Falls and they put their offense on full display scoring 9 goals over the two wind-swept matches.  On Friday they blasted Amarillo 4-1 and then in the regional final TC Nelson crushed El Paso Andress 5-2.  EP Andress had not allowed more than a single goal in their 28 previous games this year!

The most impressive thing is that the Nelson boys are not a one man show by any means.  In the semifinals four different players scored goals.  In the title game they had five different players find the net.  Going to be tough to stop such a balanced attack next weekend.

The Trophy Club Nelson girls were not to be outdone.  A pair of goals from Alexis Smith carried the girls past Arlington Heights in a 2-0 victory.  A 10th minute red card to Arlington Heights player Debbie Quintara greatly influenced the game as Heights played basically the entire game down a player.

Nelson took advantage bossing play the entire afternoon.  A late goal sealed the deal carrying TC Nelson to the state tournament.
