Another red card leads to FC Dallas loss

The undisciplined play of FC Dallas is becoming alarming.  Once again the team dropped valuable points and the main factor in losing was a red card sending off early on.  Je-Vaughn Watson saw red yesterday after only 10 minutes of play at Toyota Park in Frisco for a silly foul on Tim Cahill.

FC Dallas were forced to play with ten men basically the entire match as they fell 1-0 to New York Red Bull.  The team was already extremely short handed missing the likes of Mauro Diaz and Kellyn Acosta to injury as well as Michel and Zach Loyd to suspension.  The red card was the final straw.

The team fought valiantly and played NYRB straight up all afternoon.  You really couldn't even tell the home side was playing a man down as they traded attack after attack with the Red Bulls.  Young Danny Garcia and Fabian Castillo were in fine form giving the opposing defense fits.  The game was scoreless in the second half Danny Garcia got in behind the NY defense.  He was run down by Tim Cahill in the NY box earning a penalty kick.  Unfortunately Blas Perez blew the big chance as his spot kick was saved by Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles.

Opportunity lost.

Only a few minutes later NYRB grabbed the lead.  A long ball allowed Thierry Henry to get the best of Walker Zimmerman who was caught sleeping.  Henry raced into the FCD penalty area and slipped a square ball to the onrushing Bradley Wright-Phillips for a tap-in winning goal.  Game over and another match lost to undisciplined play.

Now the team departs on a very difficult week traveling to face the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night and then on to San Jose for a weekend clash with the Earthquakes.  Going to be a big ask of a team that is hurting with injuries and suspensions.
