FC Dallas can't rally against LA Galaxy

A second half rally fell short as FC Dallas fell to the LA Galaxy at the Home Depot Center Wednesday night.  It was another bad opening half for FC Dallas.  Not only did they find themselves down 2-0 at the break they also lost central midfielder Andrew Jacobson to injury.  Yes another injury for an already riddled squad.

The schedule has been just as unkind this month as FCD has been forced to play three matches in eight days twice.  They'll conclude the latest stretch this weekend against Real Salt Lake.  The heavy schedule and injuries have forced coach Oscar Pareja to juggle the lineup match by match due to the lack of depth.  Result?  A six match winless streak that has seen the club drop from top of the table into the middle of the pack.

Wednesday the team tried desperately to rally in the second half after Robbie Keane and Gyasi Zardes had put the Galaxy up 2-0.  Dallas had nothing to show for their counter attacks until the hour mark when rookie striker Tesho Akindele got behind the Galaxy defense and finished smartly cutting the lead to 2-1.  A perfect pass from Jair Benitez supplied Akindele for his first MLS goal.

“Since we were away, it was so quiet after I scored I thought for sure I was offside,” Akindele said of his first MLS goal. “I checked like five times with the assistant referee to make sure he didn’t raise his flag; just pure happiness as a striker when you score a goal."

Pareja brought on Blas Perez late on, but Dallas could not find the equalizer.  FC Dallas next head straight to Utah ahead of a Saturday match at Real Salt Lake, while the Galaxy are home Sunday evening against Philadelphia.
