The opening weekend of 2007-08 Region III Premier League play got underway last weekend as Oklahoma visited North Texas. The Dallas sides showed their quality dominating the matches for the most part. Under 14 - The U14 boys got their first taste of Premier League play with the Dallas teams sweeping all 8 matches in dominating form. The Oklahoma sides must be concerned as really none of the 4 teams looked to be anywhere near the same level as the 4 Dallas sides. This group looks to be a clear battle between North and South Texas. Under 15 - Norman Celtic came to town and served notice they would be a force in the league this year as they shutout Solar Red and then beat DFW Tejanos in a 5-3 shootout. Dallas Texans were the only other side to emerge unbeaten on the opening weekend after beating TSC and ESC. Andromeda were disappointing as they failed to score a goal in either game. Under 16 - The Dallas teams gave another strong performance winning seven matches with a draw in the 8 game weekend. The Oklahoma teams fought hard as almost every game was tight. Ayses were the only local team to not win both matches as they tied a feisty Norman Celtic squad that put up a good fight in losing to Solar the day before. Under 17 - Andromeda came through the opening two games in fine fashion with a pair of wins. Tulsa SC showed well in a win over Dallas Texans and a draw with North Texas Strikers. The Texans were the big disappointment on the weekend emerging with only 1 point and digging a big initial hole in the standings. Under 18 - National Champions Andromeda rolled through the opening weekend winning both games in dominant fashion. Solar also won both games to keep pace. Padova was not as strong as expected in giving up 6 goals in the 2 games.
