The matches just keep getting bigger and bigger. Tuesday night will feature some real crackers as team fight for Regional Tournament berths.
Region I 5A boys -
Martin - North Crowley
Plano - Colleyville Heritage
El Paso Coronado - El Paso Bel Air
Keller - Southlake Carroll
The big one here is the Southlake - Keller matchup. These two teams simply do not like each other. The two are right next to each other and there is quite a rivalry. Southlake won both meetings this year by identical 2-1 scores, but do not count Keller out of this one at all. It could go either way. Another big one is Plano and Colleyville Heritage. Plano has to be the clear favorites, but watch out for the upstart team from Colleyville. They completely blew away a decent Hebron side last week.
Region II 5A boys -
Rowlett - McKinney Boyd
Klein - Round Rock McNeil
North Mesquite - Mesquite Horn
Austin Bowie - Tomball
A big battle is on tap as rivals North MEsquite and MEsquite Horn play for a regional berth. North MEsquite ran away with the District title this year and crushed Horn 5-2 in their last meeting. Can Mesquite Horn rise up? Tomball puts their 26 game unbeaten streak on the line as they face Austin Bowie.
Another district rematch is on hand as Rowlett faces McKinney Boyd. Boyd won the District 10-5A title, but watch out for a red hot Rowlett team that sports a 6 match winning streak.
Region I 5A girls -
Arlington Martin - Amarillo
FM Marcus - Colleyville Heritage
Midland - El Paso Franklin
Grapevine - Hebron
The big squads are still alive in Region I and there is no bigger matchup than FM Marcus against Colleyville Heritage. These two schools have met almost yearly deep in the playoffs and there is quite the rivalry. Upstart Hebron looks to pull the upset as they face Grapevine.
Region II 5A girls -
Belton - McKinney Boyd
RR Westwood - Humble Kingwood
Sachse - A&M Consolidated
The Woodlands - Klein Oak
The North Texas sides have not fared well in Region II as only McKinney Boyd and Sachse remain both from District 10. Both are powerful sides though with only 4 losses on the year total between them.
