Arlington Sam Houston and Colleyville Heritage play to a draw

Colleyville Heritage met up with Arlington Sam Houston in the second day of the Kyle Fritz Memorial.  Both teams were coming off impressive wins to open the tournament and the winner of this match would be on their way to Saturday's title game.

Honestly, the opening half did not produce much offense at all as both teams battled it out in the midfield.  Sam Houston was the most dangerous off their short corners as they caught Heritage napping twice, but were unable to finish.  At the other end, Jackson Zeledon was active, but unable unlock the back three from Arlington.

Luckily the second half was more entertaining as both sides were able to create a few more chances.  Colleyville had a golden opportunity to take the lead only three minutes after the break.  Ryan Jakszta bombed in a long free kick to the top of the Sam six yard box.  The keeper went up to contend for the ball with Zeledon and Connor Cole of Heritage.  The ball dropped and a meelee ensued.  A Sam Houston defender cleared the ball off the line just before the ball entered the net.  The clearance went off the arm of a defender, but the referee did not give a penalty.

Sam Houston would create a golden opportunity of their own in the 52nd minute as they got in down the right side.  Keeper Josh Clarke was up to the task though as he went down to save the low shot.

The final chance of the game fell to Heritage as a short free kick almost fooled Sam Houston.  The ball went to Connor Cole who saw his near post shot saved out for a corner kick.  In the end the scoreless tie was a fair result as neither side really proved to be superior.  It leaves the group completely up for grabs heading into Saturday.  Sam Houston faces Keller Central while Heritage will play Canyon.
