FC Dallas send Hyndman out in style with win over Seattle

Where was this effort the last few months.  After slipping rapidly down the MLS Western Conference standings week after week, FC Dallas finally put together a solid 90 minutes of soccer.

They notched a pair of second half goals to defeat the Seattle Sounders and send resigning coach Schellas Hyndman off in style.  The good 2-0 victory was not without some drama though and Jackson was at the center of both altercations.

First he went head to head with Clint Dempsey who took offense to a trip from behind by Jackson.  Dempsey sent a retaliatory kick in Jackson's direction and was lucky to have not seen a card for the action.  As the first half whistle blew FCD captain David Ferreira questioned Jackson's attacking decisions and the two get in a heated exchange which included swings.  The two were separated by teammates and Jackson was substituted at the break.

The second half saw FC Dallas pull away with a pair of goals.  The first FC Dallas goal in the 65th minute came off of a set piece expertly delivered by second-half sub Michel and headed home by defender Matt Hedges, who didn't even give Sounders goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann a chance to react.

Dallas put the match away in the 87th on a Michel tap-in that proved the culmination of a frantic sequence in Seattle’s 18-yard box. David Ferreira fired an attempt on goal and the shot glanced off Sounders defender Patrick Ianni to Michel, who gladly slotted the ball into the net for his third tally of the season and second against Seattle.  The loss was the 4th in a row for Seattle as they limp towards the playoffs.

The focus now turns to finding a new coach to replace Hyndman.

Hunt Sports Group Chairman Clark Hunt said “I don’t think it’s important that they necessarily have a background in an MLS youth program, but I do think it’s important that they are open-minded about the importance of youth academies,” Hunt said. “I would hope the next coach of FC Dallas understands that and appreciates that and wants to continue the strong momentum that FC Dallas has as a leader in that area.”
