FC Dallas players Brek Shea and Zach Loyd have been called in to the US National Team camp to prepare for next week's friendly against rivals Mexico. Brek Shea has blasted onto the national scene his year as he has scored several important goals for FC Dallas in MLS play. He is one of the top scorers in the league and earned a spot on the MLS All Star squad though he was unable to play due to club commitments.
Shea said, "I’m excited. Any time you get a chance to play for your country it is an honor. Hopefully I get a chance to play against Mexico, I can’t wait to get in camp."
Do not expect this game to be friendly though as the matchup has become one of the most dynamic of world matchups. Mexico has announced strong roster that includes 10 of the starters from their victory in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup final, including goalscorers Pablo Barrera, Andres Guardado and Giovani dos Santos. It should be quite the intriguing game as it will mark the first game for newly named US coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
Zach Loyd not on the original roster but was an injury replacement for Timmy Chandler who is out with a knee injury. Loyd is thrilled with the callup and looks to get a chance against Mexico.
