Dallas Sidekicks open in fine fashion

Well that could not have gone much better.  A huge crowd of nearly 6,000.  A wildly entertaining game.  An impressive Dallas Sidekicks performance and victory over the Harrisburt Heat.

The Dallas Sidekicks are back and they put on a performance that would have made the "glory days" Sidekicks proud.  On Saturday night they opened the 2012-2013 PASL season with a convincing 6-2 win.

The first quarter was nothing more than a feeling out period.  Dallas worked on holding onto the ball and establishing possession.  In the second quarter the goals came as Harrisburg were pushed deeper and deeper into their own zone.

Carlos Videla took over.  With 10 minutes to go in the half Videla took a ball deep in the corner and worked around the Heat goalkeeper (who made a bit of a mess of it all) and finished into the empty net.  The Sidekicks were on their way.

Six minutes later defender Kiley Couch roofed a shot into the top of the Harrisburg goal after a turnover by the Heat.  Just before halftime it was 3-0 Dallas as Videla once again as he poked the ball past the keeper in fine fashion.

“A perfect scenario,” Tatu said. “So many people worked so hard to get to this point. To be back, to have a sellout, it came with pressure. I felt it in my stomach driving to the game. I didn’t want to disappoint.”

The second half was more of the same as Dallas turned on the flair.  Forwards Shaun David and Videla were giving Harrisburg fits while old timers Nick Stavrou and Sagu kept the defense strong and established possession.  The difference in the qualityof goalkeeping was quite evident as Sagu was brilliant.  Quality saves and wonderful passing out of the back.

The psasing even got better in the second half as Dallas scored a couple of really quality goals.  A string of passes left Patrick Shamu with a close range header into an empty net.  Another goal left Pereira with an easy tap-in. And another goal came from an unselfish pass from Stigall.  In the end it was a dominating 6-2 victory to open the season.
