Sidekicks rally past Oxford City into Division Final

The Dallas Sidekicks opened the 2015 MASL playoffs by slipping past Oxford City 6-5 on Sunday in Allen.  It took everything the Sidekicks had to win this one and it should definitely build confidence heading into a Division Final against powerful Monterrey next Sunday.

The game went back and forth as the two teams traded punches.  They knew each other well having faced off four times prior this year.  Dallas leading scorer Freddy Moojen got things going with a penalty kick in the opening quarter.  Oxford tied it up just before the end of the quarter through Frank Tayou and then take the lead in the 2nd via David Malloy.  The visitors led 2-1 at halftime.

Oxford City would outscore Dallas in the third period and hold a 4-2 advantage into the final fifteen minutes of play.  The Sidekicks would need an epic rally or their season would be done.

They responded to the adversity in grand fashion scoring three straight times to take the lead.  Cody Ellis and a pair from Nestor Hernandez put Dallas into a 5-4 lead.  It was shortlived though as the visitors got a goal from Alejandro Morales to tie the match once again.

Nestor Hernandez would be the hero though as he knocked home a pass from Ricardinho to provide the 6-5 victory.  Sagu and the defense stood strong over the final minutes as Oxford sent on the sixth attacker.

With the victory, the Sidekicks move on in the MASL playoffs to face the number one seed Monterrey at Arena Monterrey on Sunday, March 8th to decide who advances out of the Southern Division.  Dallas lost all three times against Monterrey this season.
