Dallas Sidekicks win road opener over Rio Grand Valley

A long layoff had no ill effects on the Dallas Sidekicks.  It had been three weeks since they took the field and won their season opener against the Harrisburg Heat in Allen.  Sunday evening they travelled to Hidalgo, Texas and took out the Rio Grand Valley Flash 7-3.

A goal after only 23 seconds got the Sidekicks off to a fast start.  Jamie Lovegrove notched the third fastest goal in team history and it sent the Sidekicks on their way to a dominating opening half of play.  The team led 4-0 at the break as four different players found the net.

Rio Grand Valley would regroup at the break and come out with more intensity in the third quarter.  A goal in the opening minute from the home side cut the Dallas lead to 4-1, but the Sidekicks answered right back when Carlos Videla fired home.  The Flash would grab the next two goals though to put some pressure on Dallas.

The lead was only 5-3 with over ten minutes to play in the game.  Dallas would have none of a comeback though as they slammed the door shut.  Goals from Ricardinho and another from Carlos Videla accounted for the 7-3 final score.

The win leaves the Dallas Sidekicks with two wins to open the season.  Dallas trails the Rockford Rampage from Illinois in the PASL Central Division.  Rockford has a perfect 4-0 record so far this season.  The Sidekicks return home this Friday night for a rematch with Rio Grand Valley at the Allen Events Center.
