SMU Men Close Regular Season with Win

The SMU mens soccer team picked up an important road win to close the regular season as they were 2-1 winners over Florida International on Friday night. SMU fell behind in the 17th minute as FIUs Phillip Fisher converted a pass from Diego Tamburus to the delight of the home crowd. SMU responded almost immediately though as Leone Cruz nodded home a header off a ball from Kekoa Osorio in the 19th minute to tie the match. The game would go to the half all tied. SMU got the winning goal in the 55th minute when Jeff Harwell picked up an errant clearance from the FIU defense and rifled a shot into the net. The Conference USA Tourney is in Dallas next week beginning on Wednesday. Seedings for the Conference USA Tournament are as follows:

4. SMU
5. South Carolina
6. Central Florida
7. Marshall
8. Alabama Birmingham
