The SMU mens soccer program announced the signing of five new student athletes to join the squad for the 2014 fall soccer season.  It is a diverse class with a pair of Texans and one from each of California, Pennsylvania and Washington.

"We are very excited for this group to join us on the Hilltop," McClements said. "We're bringing in players who cover multiple positions and have the ability to make an impact right away."

Jared Rice from Plano is the local boy in the five man class.  He plays for the Dallas Texans Academy and can play both in the midfield or defense.  "Jared is an elite college soccer prospect.  He has the ability to impact our program immediately at multiple positions."

The other Texan is Garrett Welch a defender from Houston where he plays for the Houston Dynamo Academy.  Avery Miller is the goalkeeper in the signings.  From Yakama, Washington, Miller plays for the Crossfire Premier SC.

Forward Colten Habecker will be looked upon to contribute to the Mustang attack immediately.  The Gatorade Player of the Year for Pennsylvania, Habecker plays with powerful Lehigh Valley United.

Bryce Clark joins the SMU Soccer team from Los Gatos, California.  He is a midfielder that plays with the San Jose Earthquakes Academy.  "Bryce is a very technical box-to-box midfielder. He will fit extremely well into our system of play." stated coach Tim McClements.
