The SMU women's soccer team currently sits in 2nd place in Conference USA with only three matches left to play in the 2011 season. Things are looking good, but the team must navigate a difficult three game road trip to finish the regular season.
They'll be facing three teams that are looking to catch SMU in the standings. First off they'll face Colorado College Friday afternoon. The two teams are both 5-2-1 in Conference USA play so the importance of the match cannot be understated. Then on Sunday SMU hops south to El Paso to face a tough UTEP squad that is only a game behind SMU.
The Mustangs will close out the regular season on the 28th against rivals Tulsa in what should be a pivotal game as both sides fight for a good seed in the upcoming Conference USA Tournament to be played in Memphis.
SMU is currently riding a three game winning streak which has seen them defeat UAB, Marshall and East Carolina. All three wins came in tight 1 goal matches. Kenzie Scovill leads the team with 5 goals on the season while 6 other players have scored either 2 or 3 goals this year. Courtney Webb has 4 shutouts in goal.
