The SMU men's soccer team is hosting the SMU Mi Cocina Classic this weekend featuring third-ranked Virginia, Georgetown and C-USA rival Tulsa.  The eighth-ranked Mustangs are 0-0-1 after playing to a tie in double-overtime against no. 22 Saint Louis. The game remained scoreless through the half before St. Louis finally got on the board at 50:15. Manuel Mariel was issued a red card for a hard tackle, leaving the Mustangs a man short. At 83:41, SMU tied the game with a penalty kick by Bruno Guarda. Neither team was able to score again, despite two overtime periods. The Mustangs are looking for their first win this weekend.

The Virginia Cavaliers enter the weekend undefeated, boasting a record of 2-0 after having beaten Columbia (5-0) and Richmond (2-0). Cavalier goalkeeper Michael Giallombardo made five saves last weekend in the pair of victories. Chris Tierney and Yannick Reyering led the offensive effort, making three and two goals, respectively.

Georgetown comes to Dallas with a 1-1 record after splitting the James Madison Tournament last weekend with a win over Marshall and a loss to UNC-Greensboro. Hoya goalkeeper Joe Devine recorded his fourth career shutout in the win over Marshall after making a diving fingertip save in the 75th minute. The Hoyas scored the only goal of the game in the 77th minute.

The Mustangs will face Virginia Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Westcott Field. The tournament will continue Sunday as the Mustangs take on Georgetown at 2:30 p.m. For the complete tournament schedule and results, log on to SMUMustangs.com
