SMU could not rally from a two goal deficit on Sunday afternoon and fell to Cal State Northridge 2-1 in the final game of the Prego's Express Italian Invitational in Dallas. An early goal from Cameron Sims of Cal State Northridge put SMU on their heels and had them fighting uphill all afternoon. Northridge's keeper Michael Abalos also had SMU shaking their heads as he notched 6 saves on the match. The 1-0 lead would last into the 2nd half when Dylan Riley would double the visitors lead. The Mustangs would grab one back in the 77th on a Leone Cruz goal, but that would be all SMU could muster. Cal State Northridge would hold on for the 2-1 victory and move to 5-1-0 on the season. SMU falls to 3-3. Next weekend SMU hosts their own SMU Classic with a Conference USA matchup with UAB followed on Sunday by Missouri State.
