Solar squads won both the gold divisions of the Dallas Premier Supercopa this weekend.  The tournament was comprised of only U10 and U9 squads from across the country.  Powerful Socal sent several teams to fight it out with the North Texas teams.

Under 10 -
It was a North Texas v Southern California battle at the U10 age.  Three NTx sides advanced to quarterfinal play along with SoCal powers Albion SC and Pateadores.  Solar slipped past local rivals Odyssey 2-1 in quarterfinal play while Albion SC, Pateadores and Doral from Florida all advancing comfortably.

Solar faced another tough test in the semifinals as they played Albion SC in a tight battle.  Solar came out on top narrowly 2-1 to make the final.  Meanwhile Pateadores also had a difficult match winning 1-0 over the Florida squad.

The final was a wonderful affair even though both sides were gutted from a long weekend of soccer in the hot Texas weather.  The match ended 2-2 in regulation and would need overtime to decide a winner.  Both sides were running on fumes as the game went to penalties where Solar won the spotkicks and earned the Dallas Premier Supercopa U10 title.

Under 9 -
Nomads from Southern California arrived in town with a boisterous coach looking to claim the title to add to their trophy case.  The Dallas Texans and fellow Cal South rivals Albion SC were also on hand to provide stiff competition.

The four teams advanced through group and quarterfinal play to meet in Sunday's semifinals.  The Dallas Texans won a tight quarterfinal over Pateadores, but the other three advanced easily.

The Nomads found the Texans with tired legs after their tough game with Pateadores and the Nomads made them pay running out comfortable 4-1 winners.  Solar Red faced off against Albion in the other semifinal in a game with tons of offense.  Solar Red prevailed 6-3 in a wild one.

The final came right down to the death as Solar Red scored a very late goal after a great individual effort.  Nomads protested offside, but were just flat out wrong and Solar Red claimed the title.
