Southlake Carroll had no trouble in taking care of Denton Guyer Tueday night winning 4-0.  Their goalkeeper Oshik Shams could have visited the concession stand on multiple occasions during the first half of the Dragons' District 6-5A soccer game.  Mac McGuire, Alec Petit and the rest of the Carroll offense didn't need him for most of the first half, and sparingly in the second.

McGuire, who dominated the game with his ball control and passing abilities, finished with two assists. Petit scored two goals and Shams was pulled with 15 minutes left after only making one save (at the 5:15 mark of first half).

"We give [Shams] an opportunity in practice," said McGuire, who will either play at Boston University or Eastern Illinois next year. "That's probably the reason we score so much is because he is better than any goalie that we play."

Carroll got on the board in the 28th  minute when Jake Brillhart found a clear path in front of a crowded goal to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead.  Guyer goalkeeper Jose Munoz made a diving save of a Petit shot just before Brillhart gathered the rebound and scored from just inside the penalty box.  Munoz spoiled several opportunities over the next 13 minutes to keep the Wildcats one goal down, before Petit scored to add to the Dragons' lead.

Petit wasn't done. He scored on a perfectly placed feed from McGuire from 10 yards out to give the Dragons a three goal cushion at the 11:57 mark. Matt Leach capped the scoring for the Dragons 1:15 into the second half.

With the win, Southlake remains in control of District 6-5A with a perfect 7-0 district record.  Denton Guyer is in a fight for a playoff spot sitting at 4-3.
