TCU drops 2013 opener at Wyoming 4-3

It was a wild one.  It was also one that the TCU women should never have lost.  Despite outshooting Wyoming and having a whopping 10-1 advantage in corner kicks, TCU lost the match 4-3 Friday afternoon.

Some games you just have to shake your head about.  Missed chances and defensive mistakes marked the match as the Lady Frogs allowed 4 goals on only 7 shots. Even worse was the fact that all 4 Wyoming goals came on set pieces.

TCU started on the front foot and jumped ahead in the opening minutes when Michelle Prokof scored from close range off a pass from Kelly Johnson.  Wyoming answered right back though through Sarah Paul.  The home side made it 2-1 through Molle Ramsay, but TCU sent the match to halftime all tied when Bobbi Clemmer curled in a corner kick.

Once again TCU opened well after the restart.  TCU led 3-2 within the opening two minutes where Makenzie Koch scored a perfect freekick placing it it high into the corner of the net.

The match would completely be turned on its head in the 76th minute when Wyoming would score a pair of goals within a two minutes.  In the 76th Wyoming would score on their only corner kick of the afternoon with Lucie McDowell heading home.  Then just a minute later they would grab the winner as Liz O'Reilly fired home a freekick from just outside the penalty area.

Definitely a tough way to lose.

"Obviously, we are disappointed with the results," said head coach Eric Bell. "I thought we played well enough to win, but we gave up four set-piece goals which is not normal for us and is something we must fix.

TCU returns to the field on Sunday as they face old conference rival Air Force at 11:30am.
