TCU women knock off Maryland, win 3 in a row

The TCU womens soccer team are getting things going in 2015. After a tough road trip to start the season, Coach Eric Bell has TCU surging forward with 3 impressive wins in a row.  Confidence is brimming as the non-conference slate shows five of the next six on home soil.

The winning streak started last week as TCU claimed their first road win of the year taking care of Illinois State 2-0.  A goal on each side of halftime provided the margin of victory as TCU outshot ISU 14-4 on the night.

TCU returned home for a showdown with ACC powers Maryland.  What a game it was!  Maryland held the halftime lead thanks to an early goal, but Coach Eric Bell rallied the troops and TCU came out of the break flying.  Michelle Prokof tied the match just four minutes after the restart.  The game would remain tied until very late on when the home side found the winner.  Carter Faith headed home a ball from Kayla Hill in the 87th minute of play.

Bell summed up the game afterwards: "I thought from the beginning we had control of the game for the most part. We gave up a goal in the first half, but we were pretty resilient. We came back in the second half and scored a couple of goals."

Oral Roberts was the next victim as they came to town on Sunday.  They were treated quite rudely as TCU ran out impressive 4-0 winners.  Despite bosing play it took TCU 41 minutes to find the opening goal.  Meghan Murphy headed home a nice cross from Ryan Williams to give the Lady Frogs the lead.  TCU ran away in the 2nd half scoring three times in the comfortable win.

The schedule looks favorable for the Lady Frogs with home matches against Abilene Christian and North Texas this coming weekend.  The team then heads over to Dallas to face rivals SMU before closing out the non-conference schedule with a home game against UT San Antonio.
