TCU sweeps pair on the road

It was a successful roadtrip for the Lady Frogs soccer team as they won a pair of games in South Texas over the weekend.  Friday brought a hard fought win at Texas State while Sunday showed a 3-1 win at Sam Houston State.  The two wins moved the TCU winning streak to four matches.

Friday provided a stiff test as TCU travelled to face a feisty Texas State squad.  It was a game of thirds for TCU as Vitorria Arnold and the defense earned their third straight shutout while Michelle Prokof notched the game winning goal for the third consecutive match.  The difference turned out to be an 11th minute penalty kick from Prokof.  Otherwise it was a very even match as shots were 14-12 in favor of TCU with both goalkeepers registering five saves.

Sunday brought a much more dominating effort against Sam Houston as the Frogs had the run of play most of the day.  Despite complete dominance TCU had nothing to show at halftime as the game was scoreless.  TCU would break it open after the restart though scoring three times in the opening 22 minutes.  Freshman Emma Heckendorn got the first two TCU goals in the 51st and 57th minutes of play.  Kela Gray made it 3-0 in the 68th and the game was over.  An own goal broke the long TCU shutout streak, but that was all Sam Houston would get in the 3-1 TCU win. The ladies outshot SHSU 18-7 and held a whopping 17-0 advantage in corner kicks!

Friday bring rivals SMU to Fort Worth for a 7:00 kickoff at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium.
