The TCU womens soccer team notched a 3-1 conference victory over New Mexico at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium behind a pair of goals from Jordan Calhoun.  The game was played in front of 919 spectators and was the conference opener for TCU.  With her two goals, freshman Jordan Calhoun moved into No. 2 all-time in goals scored in a single season in TCU history. Calhoun's 11 goals on the year is the best mark by any player under Abdalla and currently sits as the top mark in the Mountain West Conference in 2008.

Calhoun put TCU on the board in the 20th minute of the match, putting a half volley into the net off an assist by Lizzy Karoly. Jackie Torda looked to increase the lead midway through the half, but watched as her shot was saved by UNM goalkeeper Shannon Adragna.   The Lobos knotted the score at 1-1 in the 34th minute when Nicole Reed beat Kelsey Walters on a penalty kick.

The Horned Frogs came out of the break firing on all cylinders as Calhoun placed the ball past Adragna off a beautiful pass from Torda. On the play, Torda bent the ball around the Lobo defense to Calhoun who blasted a shot off the inside of her foot into the open goal.

Seven minute later, defender Cheryl Martin put the game out of reach, heading the ball into the upper corner of the net off a corner kick by Katie Taylor. Martin's goal was her first of the year and only second of her career. Late in the match, Calhoun tried for the hat trick in the 77th minute, but had her shot saved by Adragna.

Calhoun posted four shots on goal and two goals, while Torda recorded two shots and one assist. On defense, Walters saved three balls, while Adragna stopped six shots.

The Horned Frogs, who moved to 9-1-1 on the year and 1-0-0 in conference action, have now posted the most victories in a single season under Abdalla and the most in school history since 2003. Calhoun's 11 goals on the year are the most in a single-season since Sherry Dick netted 11 in 2000. UNM, who moved to 5-3-4 overall, suffered its first opening conference loss since 2003.   The Horned Frogs will next be in action October 10 at Wyoming. Start time for the match is set for 4 pm.
