Junior Lizzy Karoly posted a goal and an assist on Sunday afternoon to lead TCU to a 3-2 victory over Texas Tech at the John Walker Complex. With the win, the Horned Frogs have now recorded the most victories in program history.

"The kids showed a lot of heart and desire today. They were down on the road by two goals in the second half and were able to battle their way back and get the win," said head coach Dan Abdalla
. "Overall, I was extremely happy with the composure the girls showed after facing so many different elements today."

Early in the match, redshirt freshman
Katie Taylor looked to have put TCU on the board off a free kick, but a Red Raider defender blocked her shot to keep the score even at 0-0.   Following a header from Nikki Wilbur that went wide, freshman Katie Runyon made a run off a pass from fellow freshman Kaitlyn Shelledy with four minutes remaining in the half, but Texas Tech goalkeeper Tina Rincon came out of the box to halt Runyon's attack.

In the 42nd minute of the first period, the Red Raiders Katie Hinds broke the scoreless match, barely beating TCU goalkeeper Kelsey Walters
off a deflection inside the box.   Following the intermission, Texas Tech increased the lead to 2-0 when Lytle Taylor scored off assists by Maegan Wilber and Megan Hoffert.

TCU would fire right back when Alex Mechalske, a defender from Fort Worth, beat Rincon following a shot by Karoly that was deflected in the 49th minute. The goal marked Mechalske's first career goal in a Horned Frog uniform.

"It felt good to get us on the board today," said Mechalske. "Really, all I can say is it was amazing to score my first career goal."

Jordan Calhoun tied the match up 7 seconds later, netting her 14th goal of the season off another deflected shot in the box.  Karoly would give TCU its first lead in the match in the 61st minute off an assist by Kaylie Garcia.  On the play, Garcia fired the ball towards the goal, but the ball was deflected and Karoly was there to put the ball into the back of the net for the winner. The goal moved the California native into the top 5 all-time in TCU career goals scored.  Calhoun almost broke the goal scoring mark late in the match, but her blistering shot hit the post and bounced away from the goal to keep the score at 3-2 in favor of the Horned Frogs.

In a back-and-forth match, TCU pressured the Red Raiders, especially in the second half where the Purple and White outshot Texas Tech 13-7 and recorded a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.   Mechalske led the Horned Frog offense with three shots and one goal, while Karoly and Calhoun each found the back of the net once. On defense, Walters posted four saves, including a diving one late in the match that kept Texas Tech off the scoreboard, while Rincon had two saves on the afternoon.

TCU, who moved to 12-3-2 overall with the victory, will next be in action at San Diego State. Start time for the match is set for 3 pm next Friday.
