TCU thumped by Texas Tech in Lubbock

It was not the start to the season that the TCU womens soccer team had hoped for.  A tough trip to Lubbock to face Texas Tech awaited and TCU were hoping for a result.  Instead they got spanked 3-0.   All three goals came in the first half as TCU couldn't get their legs underneath them.

Following the break, the Frogs pressured the Red Raider defense, possessing the ball early and often to begin the second half, but couldn't crack the scoring column.   In the 61st minute of the match, Jackie Torda, a 2009 all-conference selection, passed the ball to a streaking Kaitlin Hellmann, but the freshman couldn't put the Frogs on the board.

Kelly Johnson came right back halfway through the second half, but her shot from outside the box sailed wide. Torda continued on the offensive attack a few moments later, but watched as her shot went wide of the goal. The Frogs had another chance in the 73rd minute, but Texas Tech goalkeeper Colleen Pitts came up with a big save to keep TCU off the scoreboard.   Garcia tried to rally the Horned Frogs in the 81st minute, but her shot from inside the box was saved by Pitts.

TCU were definitely brighter in the 2nd half, but unfortunately, the match was decided in the first half.  Next up for TCU is a home match in Fort Worth against Texas Southern on Sunday afternoon.
