The TCU womens soccer team closed out Mountain West Conference play with a come from behind win at San Diego State winning 2-1.  Lizzy Karoly, a California native, scored the winner in the 65th minute.

"The resiliency the kids showed is tremendous. They are to be commended for that, but we can't wait to go down before we decide to step up though," said head coach Dan Abdalla. "We have to put more opportunities on frame, but we get a couple of days now to get ready and focused for next week."

SDSU's Heather Vandevanter put the Aztecs ahead in the 27th minute beating Kelsey Walters off a corner kick.   Following a shot by Garcia that was blocked by an Aztec midfielder, Jackie Torda nearly put the ball into the back of the net off a pass by Karoly late in the half, but watched as her shot went wide of the goal.  With 5 minutes remaining in the half, Nikki Wilbur, a sophomore from Laguna Niguel, California, headed the ball towards the goal off a corner kick by Taylor, but the ball flew over the top of the goal to keep the score at 1-0 in favor of San Diego State.

Midway through the second half, Toda fired a shot from 25 yards out, but it sailed wide of the goal. Shortly thereafter the unlucky Torda fired a free kick by Taylor that hit the crossbar, but Wilbur got to the rebound and beat Yount to tie the match at 1-1 in the 60th minute.  Only five minutes later, Karoly followed her own shot and turned to her right from about 16 yards out, striking the ball into the top half of the net past Yount to give TCU the lead. The goal by Karoly moved her into a tie for No. 3 all-time in career goals scored in a TCU uniform.

It appeared as if the Horned Frogs were going to increase the lead late in the match when Garcia crossed the ball into the box, but Torda couldn't crack the scoring column off a header.  Defensively, sophomore Kelsey Walters had a big day in goal, saving eight shots, including one on a breakaway in the second half to keep TCU ahead. Yount posted two stops on the day, but faced pressure from the Horned Frog offensive attack all second half.

With the win, TCU brought its regular-season record to 13-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in MWC play, while SDSU dropped to 6-9-3 overall and 2-4-1 in Mountain West action.

"We are going into the conference tournament playing to win. Everyone is back to 0-0-0 and everyone has the same opportunity, so we will see what happens," said Abdalla.
