Texans claim U13 & U14 Dallas Cup titles

The Dallas Texans claimed the title at the two youngest ages of Dallas Cup XXX on Saturday at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco Texas. Erick Chapa was the star for Dallas Texans 96 as the West Coast FC defense could not keep up with the speedy forward. It was a slow start for the 96 Texans as West Coast FC came out flying asking the Texans defense to be quite involved early on. The Texans would regroup and start taking the game to West Coast FC soon though and it was the partnership of Erick Chapa and Emerson Hyndman that would take over the match. Chapa would get the goal just before halftime as he hit a left footed shot that found the net. Hyndman would huit the crossbar minutes later and Texans had their 1-0 lead heading into the 2nd half. Erick Chapa looked to have struck again 10 minutes into the 2nd half but it was ruled offside. The last ten minutes saw West Coast FC attack in waves seeking the tying goal. The Texans were quite lucky to not have conceded as the Californians narrowly missed several good chances at the end, but Dallas Texans 96 claimed the U13 Dallas Cup XXX title. The Dallas Texans 95 squad also claimed silverware as they defeated ISC Strikers from Irvine, California in penalty kicks after the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
