Texas Pre-Academy League announced

The Texas Pre-Academy league has been in the works for months and now it is ready to launch next fall. The details of the league and the set of clubs in the inaugural group were revealed.  The Texas Pre-Academy league will also serve as a precursor to the US Soccer Development Academy U18 and u16 division.
The league will consist of three age division U-13, U-14 and U-15. A host of other regional pre-academy leagues announcements expected across the US shortly.
The Texas Pre-Academy league will be part of of US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues (NPL) for boys.
The winners of each league within the NPL will qualify for US Club Soccer’s inaugural National Premier Leagues Champions Cup beginning in July 2012. The Pre-Academy initiative has long been driven by the US Soccer Federation as the next step in soccer development in the United State.
Due to logistic and incurring additional travel costs, a substantial group of USSDA clubs pushed back the Pre-Academy concept. The other major impact is the diversion of players and teams away from long established local soccer associations. One of these major shifts occurred recently when a group of clubs succeeded from the powerful Cal South organization to form the Southern California Developmental Soccer League (SCDSL). The list of the inaugural group of clubs in the Texas Pre-Academy league was also telling for one Texas division USSDA club, Andromeda SC. Their initial exclusion seems to support the rumors of their troubles.

• Classics Elite (San Antonio)
• Dallas Texans (Dallas)
• FC Dallas (Dallas)
• Houston Dynamo (Houston)
• Lonestar SC (Austin)
• Solar (Dallas)
• Texas Rush (Houston)
• Texans SC (Houston)
