It's a three team race for District 5-6A

Game on!  My how things change.  In three matchdays the race for the title of District 5-6A has become a three team race.  Just ten days ago Byron Nelson were unbeaten and had a stranglehold on the top spot.  Suddenly, BNHS have hit a rough patch losing in regulation to Denton Ryan and then falling in penalties to Keller.  The comfortable lead is gone with both Keller Central and Denton Ryan are breathing down their neck. Four matches to go and everything to play for.

Byron Nelson 24
Keller Central 22
Denton Ryan  22

Look how the gap has closed. While BNHS was dropping points to Keller last night, Keller Central was beating up on laggards Northwest and Ryan was taking care of Timber Creek.  The good thing for Byron Nelson is that they get winless Northwest on Friday.  A chance to regroup, refocus and hope their challengers slipup.

Meanwhile, the fight for the 4th and final playoff spot is a two horse race between Keller and Fossil Ridge.  The Indians grabbed valuable points last night beating the leaders in penalties.  Fossil slipped to a shootout loss to Denton Guyer.

Keller 17
Fossil Ridge 16

Keller by a point and with a highly favorable schedule over the last four matches.  Fossil Ridge’s final four games are against all top four sides.  They’ll have to do major work to get that final spot away from the Indians.

Northwest, Denton Guyer and Timber Creek…..better luck next year.
