Top seeds cruise in opening weekend of Dallas U11 qualifying

There were no real surprises in the opening weekend of qualifying for U11 Dallas Classic League.  The big boys won and won in a big way.  I guess that is how the seedings are supposed to work in the end.

Top seeds Solar Chelsea, FC Dallas Premier, Odyssey and Dallas Texans rolled their way through without allowing a single goal between them and scoring a whopping 99 goals over their 12 games.  El smasho!

Dallas Texans South and Liverpool Rush also stomped through their groups going a perfect 6-0 with a 45-0 goal differential.  The first top seed to run into any trouble was Solar Red who won Bracket G in a couple of close matches.  A solid defense that only allowed one goal, but a suspect offense only score 2 in each of their two toughest group matches against average competition at best.  A bit overseeded just because of their name.  This side will struggle to make a top 10 spot in Division 1 this year.

Liverpool sides took groups H and I while independent and goofily named Mexico 03 won a tight Bracket J.  It seemed Classic League wanted at least one independent side as they loaded this group with Cruz Azul, Juventus and Mexico all together.  Sporting United took Bracket K.  A bit of a surprise but every year Sporting seems to show up with 5 or 6 kids that are a head taller than anyone else on the field.  Draw your own conclusions on that one.

Texas Lightning Black was seeded downward after they lost a few kids right at signing, but they didn't miss a beat winning all three of their matches.  No need to worry though as Sampaio rarely keeps a team together past U12 anyway.  Liverpool Hunt grabbed the final spot of the opening weekend taking Group M with two wins and a loss.

The final ten Division 1 spots and the 10 Division 2 slots will be decided next weekend as 30 teams battle it out.
