Valencia confirmed for Dallas Cup along with 3 US sides

The Super Group for Dallas Cup XXXVI is nearly complete as four more teams were confirmed for the world class tournament. Valencia FC is the latest international squad to announce their attendance. It will be the first appearance for the famed club from Spain. They'll be the first Spanish side since Barcelona in 2011 to play. Hopefully they'll bring a bit better squad than Barcelona who were disappointing at best.
Three MLS academy teams were also confirmed. the U17/18 US Developmental Academy sides from FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, and Real Salt Lake will represent the United States in the Gordon Jago Super Group. FC Dallas will be making their 5th appearance and always seem to field a very talented group. Joining them will be the LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake. It will be the third consecutive appearance for the Galaxy while RSL will be coming for the first time since 2011. The Real Salt Lake squad is currently the class of the west coast leading the Academy Western Conference.
By my count that brings us to ten teams for the twelve team Super Group. Two more to come.

What an opening night in Fort Worth as TCU took care of visiting Alabama 1-0 on a late Kayla Hill header. It was a mouth-watering matchup featuring a pair of teams that made the NCAA Tournament last year.

Well with the opening group matches in the books for all the groups at the 2018 Russia World Cup the one thing we have learned is that we knew nothing as only 2 of the top 8 in the FIFA rankings managed a win.
