TCU closed out its exhibition slate Saturday night with a 0-0 tie against No. 23 Oklahoma State at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. The match against the Cowgirls was played in front of 1,238 spectators.  "I thought our defense was much sharper tonight. I am happy that we have a good starting point and I think it was good for our freshmen to see what it is like to compete against one of the best teams in the nation," said head coach Dan Abdalla.

The Horned Frogs and Cowgirls went scoreless in the first half. For the period, TCU posted four shots, including two by freshman Jenna Hayes. Fellow freshman Jackie Torda, a Colleyville native, almost put TCU on the board early in the half, but saw her shot sail wide.

Following halftime, Lauren Pope, a senior from Plano, looked to break the tie, but watched as her shot was saved by Cowgirl goalkeeper Erin Stigler. Senior Angie Nickens followed with a shot of her own, but got it blocked by a OSU defender.  For the match, Hayes led the Horned Frogs with three shots, while both Michelle Nguyen and Torda chipped in with two apiece.

On defense, Kelsey Vross and Kadye Bowman split time in goal and had a solid night against the Cowgirls. Vross, who started the contest, posted four saves on the night, while Bowman came in midway through the second half and stopped three balls.

"We have come a long ways going into Texas. We have a lot of potential this year," said Abdalla.

TCU will open the 2007 regular season Friday against No. 9 Texas in Austin. Start time for the contest is set for 7 p.m.
